Dear Wouter, We knew you as a child and in your teens. We followed from a distance your career. It does not surprise us that you were much loved and appreciated. We are grateful to have known you. We are proud of the fine human being you were. We cherish the memories we have of you. Thank you for all of this. “We zullen niet vergeten.” We will not forget.

Dear Wouter, it was a privilege to know you and work with you. A very fine scientist and a wonderful kind human being. You will be missed.

I am shocked. Wouter was one of the postdocs I learned the most from at Imperial. Incredible guy and outstanding scientist. Always ready to help out and show support. I dont know what to say

Wouter was always helping others

Wouter was an outstanding and kind colleague, he always cared for other people and supported them whenever he could. One time, I was stuck with my research and Wouter took a lot of his time to encourage me to continue with my work and he had so many suggestions and exciting ideas to try out! He truly loved science and his peers - he was kind and helpful to anyone, and a great mentor that cared about his students, always helping them grow as scientists and human beings. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Wouter and I hope I can make him proud in the future. He has been more than kind to me and I learned so much from him. Thank you Wouter for everything that you have done, we miss you dearly.
